Winter Sport Safety

The winter season brings exhilarating sports like sledding, skiing and snowboarding. Before you head out, however, check out these safety tips from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.


Have a partner- Try to participate with a partner and stay within each other’s sight. Also, make sure someone who is not participating with you knows where you are.


Check the weather- Pay attention to storms and conditions. Make adjustments accordingly.


Dress correctly- Wear the right clothes and gear to keep you warm and protected.


Hydrate- Remember to drink water before, during and after your sport activites.


Have a phone- Keep a cell phone on you and protected in case of emergencies.
