Spine Academy

The Spine Academy Program offered at St. Vincent Health System in
conjunction with the surgeons of Arkansas Specialty Orthopaedics
offers a thorough program for patients undergoing various types of
spinal surgery. The surgeries that the Spine Academy focuses on are:
- Anterior Cervical Disc Excision and Fusion
- Lumbar Laminectomy
- Anterior/Posterior Lumbar Fusion.
The program is designed to place patients in group situations for
education. By involving our patients in this process from the
beginning, it makes spinal surgery a more positive and informative
experience. Spine Academy offers special features including, but not
limited to:
- Detailed pre-op education class
- Patient guide
- Family involvement during hospital stay
- Specialized nurses and therapists
- Individual therapy and care
- Reunion lunch 6 months post-op
Being prepared and educated with a preplanned discharge are
necessary for better results with spinal surgery.
During class you will be given a handbook as a tool for
communication and education. It is specifically designed to ensure
that you and your coach will know what to expect throughout this
event.
